Funeral Service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 18, at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Rd., Kansas City, MO. Visitation 2-3 p.m. prior to the service. Cremation. Opal Margaret Gates was born April 4, 1941, in Kansas City, MO, and was a lifelong area resident. She worked as a Picture Framer, and for Local Union 663. Opal was a member of the True Vine Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her biological father, Eddie Locke Sr; raised by father, George P. Parker; brother, Eddie Locke Jr; daughter, Toni Gates and son, Louis M. Smith. Survived by husband, Leon Gates, Sr. Belton, MO; son, Leon Gates, Jr. Belton, MO; daughters, Lonnice L. Locke and Toni Lynn Gates Kansas City, MO and Sharon R.
