Kody was born on January 21, 1968, to Nancy and Charles DeWeese and was raised by his mother, Nancy, and stepfather, Stephen Eatinger. Growing up in a military household, Kody lived in many places around the world. He spent six months in Izmir, Turkey, a year in Topeka, KS, and two years in Misawa, Japan. After returning from Japan, he lived at Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma for a year before moving to Texas. In 1981, his family settled in Belton, Missouri.
Kody graduated from Belton High School in 1987. After high school, he joined the Air Force, where he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Upon returning to the U.S., he was stationed at Williams Air Force Base in Mesa, AZ. It was there that he met his wife, Kristine DeWeese. The two were married on December 10, 1988.
Together, Kody and Kristine had three children: Kassandra, Kala, and Kyle. Kody was an avid fan of NASCAR and local dirt track racing. He also passionately supported the Kansas City Chiefs and the University of Notre Dame. Kody loved the outdoors, especially spending time hunting in the woods and enjoying days on the lake.
Kody was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. Of all the titles he held, “Papa” to his grandchildren was his favorite.
Kody was preceded in death by his younger brother, Kyle Eatinger, and his stepfather, Stephen Eatinger. He is survived by his mother, Nancy Eatinger; his wife, Kristine DeWeese; his siblings, Kelly DeWeese, Kim (Jim) Hawkins, and Tater (Ashlie) Eatinger; his three children, Kassandra (Samuel) Sowle, Kala DeWeese, and Kyle (Skye Good) DeWeese; and his seven grandchildren, Kyra and Audrey Sowle, Kingston Savage, and Stetson, Truett, John Hart, and Calder DeWeese.
