Martin Sterk

Martin James Sterk was born in Bellflower to Dr. Martin Henry and Anna Sterk. He attended the Bellflower Christian Schools, graduating in 1969 from Valley Christian High School in Cerritos. He then attended and graduated from Calvin College in Michigan and returned to the area to work in the travel industry. He owned Expert Travel Agency in Huntington Beach for many years. In 2009 he moved to Vietnam to work with Pastor Bao Nguyen in serving local Christian ministries. He spent 10 years in Vietnam and greatly loved the people he was privileged to work with.

Martin never married, but family meant a great deal to him. Martin delighted in his nephews and nieces, and he was a cherished uncle. He had a fantastic memory for people and could always be relied upon to provide the details of family connections and lore. He is survived by: sisters Lois (Gene) Miller; Jeannie (Vern) Snoeyink, and Frances (Alvern) Miersma; brother Don (Valerie); and 10 beloved nieces and nephews.
