Jimmy was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 7, 1932. He joined the U.S. Marines at the age of 18 and served his country bravely receiving numerous service awards including the Purple Heart for injuries incurred during battle in the Korean War.
After his service, Jimmy returned home to San Antonio to marry his friend, neighbor and sweetheart, Theresa Mae Scoggin. He moved to Southern California in 1957 seeking a living wage and sent for Theresa and his two young boys, James and John as soon as he was successful. Jimmy worked for Lunday-Thagard Oil Company for forty years until his retirement.
Somewhere along the way Jimmy took up the game of golf and decided it was his life’s passion. He was an average player but studied the game like he was on the PGA tour. He loved every aspect of the game and over the years developed life-long friendships with his golfing buddies.
Jimmy loved his wife and his entire family. He is survived by his wife, Theresa; his sons, James (Karen) and John (Robyn); his grandchildren; Joseph (Samantha), Jessica (Matthew), Jennifer (Noah) and Kathy; and his great grandchildren; David, Ava, Lucy, and Opie. He will be missed by all.
1 Corinthians 15:54-55 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”
Grief and sorrow are for those left behind. When we pass from this world we have won the race and we celebrate the victory over pain and suffering through our Lord Jesus Christ.
