Andrew J. Daley

August 1, 1919 to July 3, 2012

Andrew J. Daley passed away the morning of July 3, 2012 at Lakewood Regional Hospital from breathing problems related to pulmonary complications. He was predeceased by his wife, Laura and seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving family including two sons, Don Daley and daughter-in-law, Linda Daley of Stanton, California, Jack R. Daley and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Daley of San Francisco, California and two grandchildren, Laura Daley of Stanton, California and Aaron Daley of Portland, Oregon.

Andrew was born in Hooversville, Pennsylvania and had lived in Bellflower since 1952. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II responsible for providing training and entertainment films for the troops at Camp Croft, Spartanburg, South Carolina and served in the Pacific Theater from 1944-45 in New Guinea, Dutch East Indies, the islands of Leyte, Luzon and city of Manila in the Philippines. His experiences at Camp Croft are published in the book, "Movie Theaters of South Carolina", written by John R. Coles and Mark C. Tiedje. To commemorate his 90th birthday and to honor his fellow servicemen, Andrew journeyed to the Normandy American Cemetery, France with his son, Jack in 2009.

Andrew led an active life. He loved to read and keep up with the news and spent his time perusing through books about World War II, local newspapers and magazines. He enjoyed walking in the Lakewood Mall with his friends and working in his yard filled with fruit trees.

Andrew was full of life and shall be remembered lovingly by his family and friends for his great humor, high energy, zest for life, serenity and caring for others.
