William, Bill Lane passed away peacefully on January 10th, with his beloved wife Elaine Lane holding his hand. Over the past several years, he had suffered through a myriad of medical issues, but always with a cheerful and grateful attitude. His caregivers always mentioned how pleasant and upbeat he was, no matter what he was going through.
Bill was born March 9, 1950 in Chicago Illinois to Charles W. Lane, and Margaret A Lane. The family moved shortly thereafter to Bellevue. He graduated from Sammamish High School in 1968, and Willamette University in Salem Oregon in 1972. A career with Westin Hotels and Resorts lasted almost 30 years, including 10 years in San Francisco where he met Elaine.
He spent his 50th birthday as a law school student, which had always been a dream of his to pursue. He graduated from Seattle University in 2002 with honors. After practicing law for several years in Tacoma, he concluded his working life at Starbucks headquarters, working in real estate.
He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity , and really enjoyed getting together with his fraternity brothers and reminiscing.
Bill loved to golf, and years ago, he would be at the course with frost still on the grass, waiting for them to open the course. In later years, his mobility made it much more difficult to get out on the course, but he still enjoyed watching the tournaments on TV.
Bill is survived by his wife Elaine, his "Honeydoll" as he liked to call her, his sister Patti Lane, of Bellevue, and his brother Rick Lane of Leominster MA.
He will be missed by all who knew him, as he was the kindest, sweetest man many of us will ever know.
May you rest in peace, Bill, free from the pain and suffering your earthly body dished upon you.
A Celebration of Life will be held later in the spring.
