On August 10, 2023, Shawna Leah Burnett went to live with Jesus. Born in Aberdeen, WA to Thomas and Laurie Brinkly on February 6, 1985. At 3 years old, her little brother was born and from that point forward she was nicknamed Sissy. Shawna loved her little Bubba and made sure he was safe and taken care of. She was a natural protector and would stand strong in the support of her friends and family, no matter what. Shawna had the biggest heart, and was incredibly generous with her time, love, and affection. At a young age, she was naturally inquisitive and cared about all people. Her love language was quality time, and she would make sure people felt loved when they were with her. Shawna grew up in Monroe, Washington and went to Monroe High School. Shawna was strikingly beautiful inside and out. Her charisma lit up the room and her intelligence was extraordinary. Despite her struggles, she always remained present for every one of us in countless ways, always putting everyone else first. To hold our hands, cheer us on and share her love. She was family, friend and confidant all rolled into one. A counselor when you need a shoulder to cry on, she brought joy to so many of our lives with her genuine caring nature. She was a special gift from God, her love knew no end. The world is a better place because she was in it.
Shawna graduated from Everett Community College with an Associate of Arts Degree. Professionally, she used her degree in helping low-income families find safe, clean, affordable housing. She used it to counsel and guide her friends and family. Shawna was the person to call if you needed advice, she had a unique perspective on happiness, life and love and was always looking out for everyone.
Shawna is survived by her Husband, Christopher Burnett and seven precious children, Jordyn, Treyton, Sofia, Luke, Juliet, Lily and Truleah. In Shawna’s words, you are all loved so so much! And she often sang You are my Sunshine to each.
She is survived by her parents, Thomas Brinkly, wife Carol; and Laurie Brinkly, husband Jim. Shawna was Laurie’s first child and her only little girl as well as the first grandchild on her mother’s side.
Shawna is also survived by Ron Poole (maternal grandfather) and Jane Lacefield (paternal grandmother), her 4 siblings, TJ, Jolene, Kylund and Dustin and 4 step siblings, Chris, Gina, Jeff, and Stephanie.
She has many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews as well as countless friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her loving grandmother and hero, Catherine Anne Poole, and will be laid to rest next to her.
The Celebration of Life service will be held at Sunset Memorial, August 26th, 2023, at 1pm.
Dear Lord, please take Sissy’s hand one last time for her earthly Father and dance to My Maria with her upon a cloud.
Not a day will go by that she is not loved, missed, remembered, and cherished. Sissy, you will forever be loved and safe in the hearts of so many.
