Jessie Mae Mitchell was born September 20th, 1925, and passed away surrounded by family and friends on August 4, 2016. Jessie Mae Mitchell was born in Lovelady, Texas to Douglas Mitchell and Cora Belle Williams.
Jessie, or mom as she was called, loved quilting and made several blankets of which some were given to family and friends. She also loved sewing, and taught her eldest daughter, Janice. She enjoyed cooking big meals with friends and other families, gardening and listening to her music, James Brown being her favorite.
Jessie was preceded in death by her father, Douglas Sr, and mother, Cora Belle, one sister Helen, four brothers (Douglas Jr, Andrew, George and Norris), one daughter Janice Marie Mitchell, three sons (Charles and Allen Mitchell, Jimmy Hughes Ivory). Jessie leaves behind her surviving children that will feel her loss; William Lee, Lorenzo, LaRita, Aldora, Henrietta, Eunice, Jeanetta, and three generations of grandkids, great grandkids, and great great grandkids whom she loved dearly, as well as a host of friends. She will truly be missed by all.
