He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Bea Butler. Jim was a devoted father of Jenny Butler (John Del Prete), Jim Butler (Kerri Butler), Neil Butler (Anne Fillmore), and loving grandfather to Jimmy, Jonathan, Betty and Rhodes Butler.
Jim was born in Wharton, Texas, on September 19, 1939, to Matylde and LD Butler. Jimwas the oldest of three siblings, Betty (Kristynik) and Nancy (Koening). He graduated from Wharton High School in 1958 and during his senior year was a member of a local band called the Starlighters. In 1962, Jim graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. Shortly thereafter, Jim proudly served in the Navy where hemet the love of his life, Bea, his wife for nearly 56 years. In 1969, Jim joined Merrill Lynch and spent the next 50 plus years building a successful wealth management business; culminating in starting Butler Wealth Management in 2013, with his two sons Jim and Neil. Jim exhibited a positive outlook on life, was generous with everyone and was very hardworking. He loved spending time with family at the Mazama cabin; listening to country music favorites such as Willie Nelson. Jim enjoyed swimming, playing tennis and hiking. He was a passionate fan, of his alma mater, the Texas Longhorns football team, as well as the Seattle Mariners. Jim will be deeply missed. "Hook 'em Horns!"
Funeral service will be held at St. Madeline Sophie on Friday, January 26th, at 11:00 am, 4400 130th PL SE, Bellevue.
