Dorothy (Dot) Simone, 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Bellevue, Wa, on January 17, 2021. Born on June 10, 1929, in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, Dorothy was one of seven children born to Ray and Bess Eldred.
As a young girl, Dorothy enjoyed camping and the outdoors with her family. She loved school and laughing with her girlfriends. Dorothy graduated from Franklin High School in Seattle and later worked at Prudential insurance Co.
Dorothy loved dancing and attending Italian picnics. At 19, she met her future husband, Rudolph Valentino Simone, as they shared a dance at the Spanish Castle in Seattle.Rudy and Dorothy would go on to be married for 63 years and raise their sons on The Six Suns Ranch in Bellevue.
Dorothy’s life was dedicated to her family. Although Rudy and Dorothy loved to travel, and did so throughout Europe and Australia, her true love was being around her boys. Her love for camping took the family on many trips throughout Washington and Oregon. She attended all Football, Basketball, baseball and soccer games, rain or shine. She would also cook up the occasional fish or quail that one of the boys would bring home. She handled the chaos of six boys with grace and never-ending patience. Dorothy enjoyed golfing while living part time for many years in Rancho Mirage amongst wonderful friends. She also enjoyed playing the piano and painting.
After raising six boys, Dorothy was thrilled when she was blessed with five beautiful granddaughters and of course, more boys, eight wonderful grandsons. She spoiled her grandchildren and great grandchildren to no end. She hosted endless dinners, birthdays, holidays and other family gatherings. We were truly blessed to have her in our lives. She will be dearly missed.
Dorothy is survived by her six sons, Val, Mark, David (Randi), Dino (Staci), Ronnie (Patty), and Ricky (Valerie) and grandchildren, Lisa, Michael, Bianca, Dominic, Rudy, Erica, Nicco, Rio, Gino, Jordan, Payton, Franco and five great-grandchildren, Jayden, Casen, Reven, Penelope, and Luca. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy and grandchild, Vincent, as well as her parents and siblings.
The family would like to express their most sincere love, gratitude, and appreciation to Lily Martinez, Oscar Tapia Rene, Sally Sorromero and Doctor Nishino for their compassion and care over the years.
In light of the pandemic, a limited graveside service is planned for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Children’s Hospital in Dorothy’s name.
