Donald Tsuneo Mizokawa of Bellevue, Washington, passed away on September 26, 2024, at the age of 80. He was born on November 12, 1943, in Honolulu, Hawaii, growing up there and graduating from Kalani High School in 1961. He went on to get his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Hawaii and earned his Doctor of Philosophy from Indiana University in 1973.
Donald was a professor in the University of Washington’s College of Education, retiring as Professor Emeritus in 2005. An avid electronics and gadgets guy, he had all the latest Apple products—and flashlights, so many flashlights.
Donald was preceded in death by his mother and father, Tsuku and Motoyasu Mizokawa, and his sister Joyce Kondo.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Lynn Mizokawa, his daughters Stacey (Stephen Brown) and Jana (Zack Clem), and grandchildren Andrew Brown, Nicholas Brown, and Parker Clem.
We would like to thank his friends, who became his chosen family, for all their love and support. We are also grateful for the compassionate care he received from his medical team.
Donald did not want a funeral service, so in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his memory to the Medic One Foundation (11747 NE 1st Street, Suite 310, Bellevue, WA 98005 or https://www.mediconefoundation.org/ways-to-give/donate-online/). We will miss him forever.
