June 9, 1932 – October 1, 2013
Carolyn L. Day, 81, of Issaquah, WA passed away on Oct. 1, 2013. She was born in Chicago on June 9, 1932 to Roy and Clara Bailey as the younger of their two children.
Carol met her future husband, Robert (Bob) Day in Chicago in 1953 in a company bowling league. Their married life began on March 27, 1954 and lasted 39 years until Bob’s passing in August of 1993. Bob and Carol lived in Germany for six months early in their marriage and traveled extensively while there. This began a shared love of travel that they continued to enjoy throughout their decades together. They moved to Bellevue in January of 1967 to raise their family and were residents of the east side for the remainder of their lives.
Carol was the secretary of Newport Presbyterian Church for 19 years. After Bob’s passing she started a second “career” as a volunteer at the Overlake Hospital Foundation, continuing this work for 20 years. She also took up golf and enjoyed spending time with friends on the links. She continued traveling with friends and family and had a fondness for cruises in various locations around the world. She would often choose a cruise because her favorite classical pianist, Brooks Aehron of England, would be performing!
Carol is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen and Janet, and her two sons, Michael and David.
The family is having a private memorial service followed by a celebration of Carol’s life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Overlake Hospital Foundation in Carol’s name.
