Beverly Ann Bohman, 94, of Mercer Island, Washington, passed away by natural causes on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. She was born April 10th, 1930 to Selmer and Esther Paulson and grew up with them and sister Lavonne through graduation from Bremerton High School.
In 1948, Beverly went to Washington State College where she studied and received her BA in Fine Arts in 1952. She was an avid Cougar, and lived in Davis Hall just a short walk from the Beta Theta Pi fraternity where she met her future husband Ron (Ole Ronald Bohman I) at a “freshman mixer”.
Beverly and Ron were married right out of college on November 15, 1952 in Bremerton, Washington and shortly thereafter, Ron entered military service and spent 2 years in Korea. After Ron returned from Korea, they settled at Travis Air Force Base in California. In 1959 they returned to the Northwest where they lived in Lake Hills until they built their home on Lake Sammamish in 1963 and resided there for over 40 years. They raised three boys, Ole Ronald II, Thomas and Mark.
Throughout the years they both enjoyed extensive travel to Alaska, Japan, Australia, Mexico, and throughout Europe including trips to their ancestral homes in Sweden and Norway. The trips to Sweden and Norway were an inspiration to Bev to learn more about the Family history and sparked her interest in genealogy. This resulted in her pursuit of a Master’s degree in Library Science which she applied to gather more information on the family genealogy in Sweden and Norway. In the years to come, Bev and Ron spent many summers boating throughout the Puget Sound, San Juan Islands and Canada on their boat, the Lassbybacken.
Bev also loved art, sculptures, music, gardening and spending time with her grandkids. Sunday dinners on the deck were “the best”. She would always be there to help you or a friend as she had a real gift for hospitality. She and Ron were charter members of and actively involved with Overlake Park Presbyterian Church where they had many friends and a group they met with frequently, affectionately known as “The Dinosaurs”.
In 2006, Bev’s husband Ron passed away after 54 years of marriage and shortly thereafter, the Lake home sold and Bev moved to a condo in Bellevue. She lived at the condo for several years before transitioning to Covenant Shores on Mercer Island for the next 12 years until she passed away.
Bev was a woman of faith and was blessed with a large extended family. She is survived by her 3 sons, O. Ronald II ( Julie); Tom (Carol); and Mark ( Lisa), 7 grandchildren; Sarah Pooler (Doug), Melissa Vanatter (Kyle), Anna Anderson (Lars), David Bohman (Ashley), Karley Rohdin (Henrik), Kelsey Smith (Scott), Matthew Bohman , and 10 great grandchildren.
A private family burial was held at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue, WA where she was laid to rest next to her husband O. Ronald Bohman I. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on October 25, 2024 at Covenant Shores, 9107 Fortuna Drive, Mercer Island, WA 98040.
