Alberta Tefft, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on August 9, 2022 in Bellevue. Born in Kelso, Washington on November 11, 1924, daughter of Eber and Edith Yaden. She grew up during the depression with six sisters and two brothers. Alberta graduated from Kelso High School in 1942 and Cum Laude from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Business in 1946. She is a member of Chi Omega Sorority.
Alberta married Wesley Tefft in 1947 and had three children, Diane Tarr, Paul Tefft and Dana Strandjord and two grandchildren, Corinne and Sarah Strandjord.
Al and Wes moved to Bellevue in 1951 and she was very active in her community and church. She sang in the choir and was treasurer of First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue. Alberta was president of Seattle Assistance League, founding member of Overlake Hospital Guild, and a member of Overlake Golf and Country Club and Alderbrook Golf and Country Club. She was an avid bridge player.
Along with her husband Wes, Alberta had many lifelong friends from the University of Washington and the community. She enjoyed hosting events and was a gourmet cook. Alberta had lots of adventures from boating, skiing, golfing, and travelling overseas. She was part of many informal social groups and clubs. A group of hunting friends, known as the “Iron Springs Gun Club”, visited Iron Springs Resort on the Pacific Ocean for many years. Another couples group, dubbed “Short Club”, experienced unique outings in the Seattle area. She founded an investment club for women called Vesteens. Alberta was the first in the family to learn downhill skiing and along with her husband Wes joined the Enumclaw Ski Club at Crystal Mountain. Alberta was an avid Husky football fan, attending the UW home games for over 50 years. She enjoyed Seattle Symphony concerts and local theater productions. Alberta loved the Lord, her family, and her many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, September 30, 2022, at Bellevue Presbyterian Church 1717 Bellevue Way NE Bellevue, WA 98004. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial gifts in honor of Alberta be made to Bellevue Presbyterian Church https://www.belpres.org/give or to the Tefft Family Endowed Fund for Dentistry at the UW School of Dentistry https://giving.uw.edu/Tefft_Family_Endowed_Fund_for_Dentistry
