Jean retired from the State of Illinois as an administrative secretary. She was a member of the Concordia United Church of Christ, Belleville, IL.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, William C. and Ida (Schuff) Scharf; brothers, Melvin (Elvira) Scharf; William C. (Marguerite) Scharf; Grover Scharf; sisters, Myrtle (William) Wirth; Marion (Leo) Pfeffer; Mildred (Jim) Wells; Lillian (Alvin) Otten; and Helen (Les) Plant.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sister-in-law Marion Scharf of Waterloo, IL; nephews and nieces, Melvin (Pat) Scharf; Marilyn (Bill) Eagan; William (Judy) Wirth; Betty (Ed) Urban; Marie (Ollie) Baer; Jeanette Kunz; Mary Ann (Joe) Brokering; Larry (Carol) Pfeffer; Eileen (Joe) Martin; Charlene (Wayne) Betz; Randall Scharf; Allen (Nancy) Scharf; Marjean (Terry) Webb; Cheryl (Charles) Mueth; Mari (Bill) Fritz; many great nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
Friends may gather with the family from 4 until 8 pm Monday, March 5, 2018 at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home with Pastor Douglas Anders officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Shriner’s Hospital or the Concordia United Church of Christ.
