Moe was born in East St. Louis on January 1, 1934 to the late Edward and Elizabeth (Bennett) Croak.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
Moe worked as a private investigator for many years and was a Korean War Veteran as well as a medic in the United States Army.
He was a loving father and grandfather whose passion was playing golf and anytime spent on the links. He played countless men’s baseball games in East St. Louis and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
Left behind to cherish his precious memories are his only child, Holly Austin; grandchildren, Wyatt Luke Winston, Belleville, IL, Emmajean Faye Hearty, Lexington, KY, Brenna Elizabeth Hearty, Lexington, KY; former wife, Brenda Cockrum, Belleville, IL; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends as well as his beloved choodle granddog, Kennie.
Moe was preceded in death by his brother Richard Croak and sister Kathy (Croak) Bonifield.
A visitation will be held at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, 3412 Frank Scott Parkway W, Belleville, IL, 62223 on Monday February 3, 2020 from 4 until 8 p.m.
A funeral to celebrate Moe’s life will be held at the Valhalla Gaerdner Holtern Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 4 at 10 a.m. with burial afterward in Valhalla Gardens of Memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to Rotary International.
