Naomi Grace Welsh

Naomi is preceded in death by her parents, Lowell and Lela (Michels) Goldsmith, brothers, Leon Goldsmith, his wife, Leigh Goldsmith, Lowell Goldsmith, his wife, Anna Mae Goldsmith, and sister, Jennie Cox, and her husband, Charlie Cox.

Naomi is survived by her only son, Aaron Welsh, his wife, Tammy, grandson, Brad Welsh, his wife, Brandy, great-granddaughter, Adaya; and grandson, Brent Welsh, his girlfriend, Arianna Brackins. She is further survived by nephews and nieces; Greg and Joanie Cox, Doug Cox, Eric and Debbie Goldsmith, LuAnn and Gary Stevens, George and Ann Goldsmith, Gwen Goldsmith and great nieces and nephews; Charlie Cox, Sallie Cox, Erica Goldsmith, Jennifer Goldsmith and Meghann Stevens.

She was born in Jasper County Illinois and was the youngest of four children. She graduated from high school in Olney and then attended Varner Cosmetology School in Paris, Illinois. After passing the state board exam, she worked as a Stylist in Bloomington, Illinois. She then bought a beauty salon in Louisville, Illinois, where she spent the next five years, before moving to St. Louis and marrying James J. Welsh in 1961. She then worked at Melvin’s Beauty Shop for 23 years before opening her own shop in her home for the next 31 years.

Naomi was a beloved and kindhearted, generous woman with a smile as big as her heart. She loved her family, her church, and enjoyed painting, reading and some traveling.

Memorial Gathering will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday, June 23rd, 2022 at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois.

Memorial Service will be at 12:00 pm on Thursday, June 23rd, 2022 at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois.

Interment will follow in Valhalla Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Belleville, Illinois.
