Kenneth C. Woodrome, 84, of Belleville, Illinois, passed away on February 13th, 2023. Born on August 20th, 1938, Ken, a life-long Belleville resident, was a 1956 graduate of Belleville Township High School, graduated from Belleville Area College and was a second lieutenant in the Illinois National Guard. Professionally, Ken proudly served his community through his role in the banking industry for 47 years, as well as through the Kiwanis Club. Always dressed impeccably, Ken, like his wife Jackie, never seemed to age and together they exuded timeless style.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 64 years Jacquelyn (Lasco) Woodrome of Belleville, Illinois. Knowing each other since childhood through church, they started dating as teenagers after spending time together at Lutheran Walther League Youth Group. Together they enjoyed boating, traveling, playing tennis, and taking long walks. Selflessly dedicating his time and talents, Ken was a committed lifelong member of the Lutheran church. Kenny’s love of water skiing at Rocky Ridge, swimming laps, deep sea fishing, golfing with his friends, and cooking for his family was undeniable.
He is lovingly survived by children, Marty (Maureen) Woodrome of Belleville, Illinois, Toni (Jeff) Gass of Millstadt, Illinois, and grandchildren, Josi (Nick) Roberts, Madeline Woodrome, Emily Woodrome, and Elisabeth Woodrome. Ken’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. Whether it was attending sporting events, playing board games, or baking cookies for his granddaughters, Ken’s proudest accomplishment was being given the title “Best Grandpa.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Flora (Jung) Woodrome, and sister, Janet (Woodrome) Walther.
