Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Brooks; her parents, Ralph Franklin Cook and Norma Lee, nee Stacy, Clements; and a sister, Phyllis Wilkerson.
Janet was a very unique person; she was the owner and operator of her own body shop, where she restored cars. She was a self-taught computer technician. She enjoyed going to the casinos.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Vickie (Lawrence) Schaefer of Cahokia; 1 son, Scott May of Cahokia; 1 brother, Richard Cook of Cahokia; her step-mother, Carolyn Cook of Kentucky; a very special friend, Penny Freeman of Louisiana; 4 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, 5 great-granddaughters, 6 great-grandsons and other relatives and friends.

Funeral: Services will be held on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Charles West officiating.
Interment will follow in the Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
