Born from Vikings, thru the Celtic nations, from chiefs of the Cherokee Nation and great explorers known to American history.
His longest and strongest DNA strand begins in the southwest region of Norway in the Bergen area, land of Vikings. From Norway Blains ancestors traveled to the Scottish Highlands and on to Ireland where he picked up his Celtic heritage that he was very proud of. Blain was the 3rd great grandson of a Cherokee tribal chieftain who was forced to lead his people from the southern Appellation Mountains over the Trail of Tears to the Cherokee Nation Reservation in Oklahoma where after years of abuse by the U.S. Government left the reservation with a small group of tribesmen and their families and settled in the Ozark Mountains that was said to have reminded them of their homeland. Blain was the 6th great grandson of John Coulter, known as a mountain man John was requested by both Lewis and Clark to help lead their expedition across America, They both have written that their expedition would have most certainly failed without John’s knowledge of the land and how he could befriend the native Americans.
To know Blain was to know what he loved, His first and foremost love was Sherry Long and her sons Ian and Claud and although he knew he never wanted to take the place of their father he did want to be a stable male figure to them and loved them as if they were his boys. He loved people and though he could be a bit hard to get to know but if he called you friend, he would be your most fierce defender.
Blain also loved Music, all music from acoustical to zydeco and everything in between. He loved movies, from the old silent movies to the new CGI and tech savvy films and he knew all the quotes and/or one liners and used them often in conversations and if you would use one, he could tell you the movie it was in as soon as it rolled off your lips. He loved the theatre and the arts, going to the Muny, the Fox and yearly going to Shakespear in the park in Shakespear Glen at Forest Park. He loved food and would try almost anything at least once, Blain was an avid reader and always had a book he was working on close at hand. He loved nature, going camping, float trips, all boating actually. He was not big on fishing but had gone many times as a boy and as for hunting he went to the hunting cabin and around hunters many times and was a good shot but he felt as long as Schnucks had pork, beef and chicken he didn't need to hunt. Blain loved history, history documentaries and history books, going to rendezvous at Fort de Charters, WW II reenactments in Jefferson Barracks Park, the STL Science Center and the STL Zoo.
If asked Blain would tell you he had a good childhood and young adult life. He attended both Cahokia and Dupo for most of his early years in school and graduated from Dupo High School after which has was able to spend a semester at Savannah Collage of Art and Design but after one semester he decided he would be better served in auto body work and enrolled at Ranken Tech and received his degree Auto Body Mechanics. He had hi hopes and dreams of opening a small body shop but before he had a chance to acquire the funding needed his kidneys started acting up. He fought a hard fight for many a years and if not for the incompetence of his doctors I truly think he would still be with us today but on 2 June 2024 he walked into his aunt's bedroom and after feeling so cold he had the chills he told her all of a sudden he felt very warm and after a couple minuets he ask her to call 911, he sat back in the chair and was gone from this world. No sign of pain, not even a sigh and had a very contented look and I do not believe he knew he was leaving us.
Blain was preceded in death by all his Grandparents, all Uncles and Aunts save 1, Cousins and other loved ones and friends, all way to soon but we know he is in great company.
Blain leaves behind his Parents, Twin Brother, 1 Aunt, 1 Niece, 2 Nephews, the Love of his life and her Sons, Cousins, other Loved Ones and many many friends.
All of whom he Loves very much and is now waiting on us to join him in our own time.
A Celebration of Life is being held at Sugar Loaf Township Hall at 240 S. 5th St., Dupo, IL 62239 from 4:00P.M. till 10:00P.M. on July 7th 2024
