Sister Mary, the daughter of Patrick Joseph and Teresa (Reilly) McCluskey, was born in 1929 in Co. Monaghan, Ireland. Sister Mary entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, Houston, Texas on June 25, 1949 at St. Michael Convent, Co. Clare, Ireland. Sister continued with her religious formation and made her First Profession of Vows on December 8, 1951 and her Final Profession of Vows on December 8, 1956 at Villa de Matel in Houston, Texas.
Sister Mary earned a Bachelor’s in nursing at Sacred Heart Dominican College, Houston, Texas, a Master’s degree in nursing education at the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC, and another Master’s degree in pastoral ministry at La Salle University, Philadelphia, PA. Upon completing her nursing degree, Sr. Mary ministered at various Congregation sponsored hospitals and/or healthcare centers: St. Anthony Center, Houston, TX; St. Joseph, Houston, TX; Schumpert Medical Center, Shreveport, LA; Hotel Dieu School of Nursing, Beaumont, TX; St. Mary, Port Arthur, TX; St. Patrick, Lake Charles, LA; St. Francis, Tulsa, OK; St. Mary Medical Center, Long Beach, CA; and CHRISTUS St. Michael Medical Center, Texarkana, TX.
Sister Mary is survived by two sisters, Sr. Cecilia McCluskey, OLSH of New Jersey, USA and Mrs. Anne Lavelle of Co. Monaghan, Ireland, and nephews and nieces in Ireland.

Sister Mary’s body will be received at the Immaculate Conception Chapel, Villa De Matel, 6510 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas at 5:00 p.m. on November 25, 2022, followed by Evening Praise and a celebration of her life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Immaculate Conception Chapel at 10:30 a.m. on November 26, 2022. A Rite of Committal will follow at Villa de Matel Cemetery.
