Rodolfo "Rudy" Gutierrez, Sr. was born on June 10th, 1955, in Brownsville, Texas. He fought hard against cancer, for 3 years. He lost his battle at the age of 65, on December 12, 2020, at his Edgemoor home of 10 years, in Houston, Texas.
Rudy lived a wonderful life. His many achievements include graduating high school and completing trade school as a certified welder. He worked at Waste Management for 10+ years and Chicago Bridge & Iron (CB&I) for 18 years. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the United States Army Reserves. He was recruited from recruiting station in San Benito, Texas. He entered the USAR on November 16th, 1973, and trained at Alpha Company 2nd Battalion, Fort Dix, New Jersey. In basic training he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of private second class. Rudy attended Romeo Quartermasters School located at Fort Lee, Virginia to train as an Army medic. Upon completion of Quartermasters School, PVT Gutierrez reported to the 5th US Army Area in Fort Sam Houston. While at Fort Sam Houston he completed his time in the Army reserves. His decorations include the national defense medal.
Rudy enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar, grilling steaks, boiling crab, and spending time with his family. Rodolfo is lovingly remembered by his wife Roxanna Rocha Gutierrez, and together they were very proud to have five amazing children; Miranda Desirae Gutierrez, Amanda Nicole Gutierrez Zubire, Rodolfo Gutierrez Jr., Donna Marie Gutierrez, and Elise Marie Gutierrez, and one granddaughter, Marielle Anita Zubire. His parents were Francisco and Ninfa Gutierrez and his grandparents were Joquin and Genoveva Gracia. He has two siblings, Juanita Gutierrez Alejandro and Geraldo "Jerry" Gutierrez. He had many nieces, nephews, and cousins, but a lot of people called “Tio!”
Rodolfo Gutierrez, Sr. was generous and loving. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
Visitation will be held from 5pm to 8pm, Friday, December 18, 2020 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home. Committal will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
