MARIAN “MIC” JAMAIL AVERYT, 97, passed away on November 23, 2024, after courageously battling numerous health issues for the last several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Thomas Averyt, Jr., her beloved sons Tom and Bob Averyt, her parents, Najeeb K. “Jim” Jamail and Mary Musey Jamail, and her siblings Joe N. Jamail, Elizabeth Jamail Yamin, Albert N. Jamail and Harry G. Jamail. She is survived by her children, Donna Averyt, Craig Averyt, and Cyndi Averyt Levitt (Danny), and grandson, Spencer Levitt, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Marian attended Catholic School and was a member of Holy Ghost Parish and Saint Anne’s in Houston. As a young adult she enjoyed performing in USO shows during WWII and singing at the USO canteens in Houston. She also entered and won local talent shows.
Marian met and married Tom Averyt and they had 5 children. She worked at Holy Ghost for several years, while her children attended school there. She then became a part of the family business, Jim Jamail & Sons, which was founded by her father.
Marian’s love for her family never wavered, first with her parents and her siblings and then with her own children. She would literally do anything within her power for her kids. Marian also took care of her own mother in later life until she passed away. Family was her life and her greatest joy.
Marian worked in the family business until she was 88 years old. She loved restaurants and traveling, Bingo and an “occasional” casino. She was a beloved mother, mother- in- law, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. She never met a stranger, in fact her greatest qualities and what stood out the most, were her warmth and honesty as well as her sincere, endearing way. There were many who were drawn to her as soon as they met her and for a lifetime have loved her. She loved doing for others and left a lasting impression with some she hardly knew.
She will be greatly missed and will remain forever in our hearts.
