Jane Elizabeth Colley Doerr passed away February 17, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. Jane was born February 10, 1940 in Memphis, Texas. She and her family moved to Austin when she was four. She attended McCallum High School and University of Texas at Austin. In 1957, she met the love of her life Ted, and married in 1960. They raised their family in Austin until 1970, when Ted received his Doctorate, and they moved to Houston. They joined Westbury United Methodist Church where she served in various capacities, such as Sunday School Superintendant, Youth Counselor, and Chancel Choir member. She was a Girl Scout Leader for her daughter’s troop for ten years, where she was a Red Cross Instructor for canoeing and sailing. She was in Bible Study Fellowship for 26 years, serving as Teaching Leader for 13 years, and retired to care for her mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eva and Hugh “Jack” Colley; and her grandson, Daniel Joe Kennedy. Jane is survived by her husband Ted C. Doerr; son, Robert Doerr and wife Kathleen; daughter, Sherri Kennedy and husband Hugh; sister, Mary Hugh Doerr; grandchildren, David, Shannon and Amy Doerr, Brice and Brenna Kennedy; and numerous other loving relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service honoring Jane’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Westbury United Methodist Church, 5200 Willowbend Blvd., Houston, TX 77096.
