Fred was born in Logansport, Indiana on July 7th, 1956 to the late Fred and Roberta Bowyer. As the second of six children in a rural Indiana town, Fred established strong family and community values that served as the foundation for his journey through life.
Fred graduated from Logansport High School in 1974. Gifted with athletic talent, he played basketball at Adrian College in Michigan, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Education. Finding his passion in Education, he earned a Masters in Education Administration from the University of Houston. He taught middle school history and served as Vice Principal at various schools in Houston, before finding his home at Condit Elementary, where he served as Principal for twelve great years. He received numerous district accolades and was beloved by teachers, parents, students, and the like. After retiring in 2012, he continued to serve as a mentor to first-year principals in Houston ISD.
Fred started his family with his marriage to Olga Bowyer on March 27th, 1987. Together, they raised two beautiful daughters and built a community of close friends and loved ones. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend, whose quick wit and wisdom left you smiling and often with a greater purpose. He was a very special and courageous man, whose positive attitude during his trying illness served as a beacon of hope and inspiration to everyone he knew.
He enjoyed traveling with his family and golfing with his buddies. He especially loved taking his dog Bella, to the dog park and on many road-trips to California. Fred was a member of Spring Creek Christian Church and frequently attended Lakewood Church.
Fred is survived by devoted wife, Olga, loving daughters, Delyla and Katelyn, and son-in-law, Ryan. He is also survived by his three brothers, Scott, Barry and Sam, and two sisters, Gayle and Amy.
