Cruz C. Ortiz, Sr.

Cruz C. Ortiz, Sr., WWII veteran, passed away at the age of 100 on August 18, 2020. He was born on May 3, 1920 to Narciso and Gregoria Ortiz in Waco, Texas. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He was a volunteer at the Veteran’s Hospital. Cruz was preceded in death by his wife, Faye B. Ortiz and his siblings Seferino, Ramona, Domingo, John, Guillerma, Victor, and Nona Anita. He is survived by his children, Mary Ann Hanlen and husband Edward, Virginia Faye Ortiz, Belinda Townsend and husband Raymond, and Cruz Ortiz, Jr.; grandchildren, Denise Ann Pressler and husband Lewis, Armando Eric Reyes, Kimberly Dawn Harter, Kristina Irene Dudley and husband Eric, Kandice Joan Canterbury, Desiree Ortiz, Matthew Laxson and wife Bridget, Cruz Ortiz, III, and Jessica Latham; 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm, with a 7pm Rosary, Thursday, August 27 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet St., Bellaire, TX. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, August 28 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Rd., Houston, TX. Rite of Committal will be held immediately following at 1pm at Houston National Cemetery.
