Betty Katheryn Berkman

The family of Betty Katheryn Berkman, (Kathy), is saddened to announce her passing on October 26, 2023 at the age of 89. She was born on October 18, 1934 in Great Bend, Kansas and preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Jeanette Kindsvater and her late husband of 33 years, Aleck Berkman.

In addition to raising her four children, she enjoyed a long career in retail management. She loved reading, watching old movies, gourmet cooking, and spending time with friends and family.

Her feistiness and quick wit will always be celebrated and remembered by her daughters- Alexis (Dan) Bullard, Bari (Guy) Whittington, Stacy Berkman, and her son Cary (Rhonda) Berkman along with Grand/Great Grandchildren-Justin (Courtney) Steele, Caitlin Bullard, Gavin Muniz, Reid Whittington, Chandler Whittington, Karlan Shelley, Kaylie Berkman, Alex Berkman, Zoey Berkman, & Savannah Berkman.

It would be wrong to say that Kathy lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined to get better. When anyone else would have broken, she fought hard and stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience, courage and perseverance truly look like. Her presence and tenacity will be truly missed.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, October 29, 2023, 11:00am, at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1101 Antoine Drive, Houston, TX 77055.
