Bert Cone Riggs

Bert Cone Riggs, age 97, passed away August 4, 2013 at Clarewood House in Houston. She was born in Wilson County, Texas to Russell and Minnie Cone on January 13, 1916. She graduated from the University of Texas, and was a teacher and elementary counselor in Houston and San Antonio. She was a member of Bellaire United Methodist Church where she was one of the founding teachers of the School for Little Children. She married John Elbert Riggs in 1944, and had two daughters, Ann and Martha. She is predeceased by her husband, siblings, and son-in-law, Stephen Rogers. Survivors include Ann Gilreath and husband, Charles, Martha Rogers, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons, and a host of other dear relatives and friends, especially her Clarewood family.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Clarewood House(Auditorium) 7400 Clarewood Dr., Houston, TX 77036.
