She was the oldest of three children born to Joe B. and Lisa Erwin Burrow. Barbara Ann was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, J. Frank Stubbs, her parents, her brothers Billy and Gary Burrow, and her half sister Debbie Burrow.
Surviving members of her family are her daughter, Mary Lisa (Mona) Sandhop, Son-In-Law, John R. Sandhop, Jr., Granddaughters, Katherine and Madeline Sandhop and half sister, Lynn Burrow Doleac.
Barbara grew up in Bay St. Louis, MS and enjoyed living two blocks from the Bay. She grew up near her many aunts, uncles and cousins and attended Bay High School. She remained friends with four very special girls/women from early elementary school until her death.
A Beaumont suitor stole her heart and courted her until marrying in 1952 at the Main St. United Methodist Church in Bay St. Louis, MS.
She and her husband settled in Beaumont where she lived until moving to Houston in 2007 to be close to her daughter and her family. She has enjoyed the past seventeen years living at Brookdale West University Senior Living.
Her employment history included the White House Department Store for several years, and in 1962 she began working for Drs. Etheridge and Pray, Optometrists. After leaving their practice Barbara worked for Dr. Vandiviver, Anesthesiologist until he retired. She then joined Southeast Texas Urology as a Procedure Scheduler until she retired.
Barbara lived a very full, almost 90 years enjoying many friends, family, reading, cooking, traveling, gardening and playing scrabble and cards. She never said no to an invitation to experience new restaurants and always loved celebrating holidays.
Her family would like to thank Drs. Odette Arredondo, Kevin Lisman, Juan Olivero, Jared Lee, and Kevin Franz for all their care and attention. We would also like to include Donald Foster, Colette Ramirez and Alex Azofeifa and the Dunn W9th Floor Nursing Staff.
Family and friends of Barbara Stubbs are invited to a Celebration of Life Service and Reception to honor her life and celebrate her 90th birthday.
