Janet Louise (Church) Wilmoth

A loving mom, nana, and great grandmother, Janet was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert Wilmoth, her parents Fletcher and Viola Church, her sisters Charlotte Otezya, and Donna Albrecht.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sonya Wilmoth (State College, PA), Suzanne Wilmoth (Bel Air), granddaughters Erin Wilmoth (Connor) of Centerville, MD, Jacqueline Williams (Charles) of Felton, PA, Carlie Hively (Justin) of West York, PA, Brooke Mitchell of New Freedom, PA, and Dylan Lehotak of Kansas City, MO.

Born and raised in Harford County, Janet was a 1961 graduate of Bel Air High School where she was a member of the Prom Committee, student council, Senior Class Council, Autumn Dance Committee, and May Court as well as a member of the El Adios staff. After graduation, Janet worked at Edgewood Arsenal before leaving to raise her two children, Sonya, and Suzanne. She served as a teacher’s aide at Prospect Mill Elementary School and worked with developmentally challenged school children as well as holding a similar position at Roye Williams Elementary School.

After leaving education, Janet went to work at the Aegis. She was a member of the “Aegis Gals” for many years and it was there that she made many good friends that she remained close with over the years. She ended her working days employed at Full House Press Printing of Bel Air.

Janet was an avid reader, loved music and dancing, playing recreational volleyball, working on her crafts and quilts, and as she aged, spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.

Janet will be remembered for her sense of humor that helped carry her through the final days and her battle with Alzheimer’s. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and spending time with them was where she found happiness.

A visitation for Janet will be held Sunday, September 17, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Schimunek Funeral Home, 610 W MacPhail Rd, Bel Air, MD 21014. A celebration of life gathering will take place on Monday, September 18, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM, 610 W MacPhail Rd, Bel Air, MD 21014. Interment in Harford Memorial Gardens, 3839 Aldino Rd., Aberdeen, MD 21001.
