Gerald Rudolph Carpenter

He was the beloved husband of Helen (Donohoe) Carpenter for more than 60 years. He is also survived by his daughter Mary Ellen Kelly and her husband Dave Kelly, his daughter Susan Kraft and her husband William Kraft, his son Michael Carpenter and by his grandchildren: Brian Kelly and his wife Robin Kelly, Ellen Kelly, Will Kraft, Charles Kraft, Zachary Carpenter and Madison Carpenter; and his 2 great grandchildren Hope and Andrew Kelly.

He was born in Edgerton, Ohio, grew up in Buffalo, New York and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He graduated with a degree in Business from the University of Maryland. He worked for Bethlehem Steel and in the aluminum casting business.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc., 610 W. MacPhail Road,(at Route 24) on Wednesday, January 23rd from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m.

A mass to celebrate his life will be held at St. Margaret's Church on Hickory Avenue in Bel Air, MD on Thursday, January 24th at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Homecoming Project, Inc. at 502 S. Tollgate Road, Bel Air, MD 21014.
