Frederick A. Snyder (Fred / Freddie) was born in Dundalk Maryland to Lois (Adams)Snyder and Frank Snyder. Fred graduated from Dundalk High School in 1954. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force to see the world. He saw Buffalo, NY and Albuquerque, NM (his joke). Albuquerque turned out to be very lucky for him, he met the love of his life, Dorothy. They were married in 1958, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They were inseparable for almost 65 years. Shortly after they relocated to his home state of Maryland. Fred promised Dorothy he would have a loving family and moonlight cruises on the Chesapeake Bay. He lied! She never did get that cruise and her mother-in-law was, well, a mother-in-law! They resided first in Perry Hall and then later Abingdon. They raised 2 children, a son, Brian Snyder and daughter, Laura Snyder. Neither one of them gave them a darn grandchild (grand dogs instead). He was a devoted husband and father. Fred worked as an Armature Winder in the large motor shop at Bethlehem Steel until his retirement in 1996. Fred loved his hometown sports teams, especially the Orioles, he rarely missed a game on TV. After retirement, he pursued his passion for music, fishing, videography and travelling. In his sixties until his early eighties, he was involved in several bands here in Maryland and Florida. He learned to play the mandolin by ear as a teenager after his father gave him his first mandolin. You can find some of the videos on YouTube of The Belcamp Boys. Together they travelled to 49 states, Canada and an extensive 40th wedding anniversary trip to Europe by trains ( if anyone wants to see the video…) They enjoyed spending many winters in Florida where they enjoyed lots of fun activities that seniors do!
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Piatt) Snyder, mother Lois (Adams) Snyder, father, Frank Snyder, sister Lois (Snyder) Mullins and brother, Frank Snyder II. He is survived by his children and many nieces and nephews.
