Dawn Nancy (Longo) Rowe, age 49, passed away unexpectedly. Dawn was born on April 13, 1967 , New York. She was the daughter of Rick J. Longo and Nancy K. Long both of New York and step-daughter of Raymond Long also of New York. She is survived by her sister, Virginia [Ginny] (Longo) Morales of North Carolina; her step-brother Randy Long of New York; her brother-in-law Jose L. Morales, Jr. of North Carolina and Ernst Leschke of Maryland as well as nephews Gregory Diaz & Lorenzo Morales both of North Carolina, Brian Leschke of Maryland and niece Kristin Leschke of Maryland. Dawn is preceded in death by grandparents, Gustav & Gretchen Kiederer, her father Rick Longo, her mother Nancy Long, her step-father Raymond Long, her sister Karen Ann (Longo) Leschke and her step-brother Jeffrey Long.
Dawn received her BA from Pace University in New York and her MBA from Loyola University Maryland. She also held the designations of CPA & CPC.
Dawn, was a principal of Schiavi, Wallace & Rowe, PC until her recent death. She specialized in consulting assignments covering third party reimbursement for hospitals and long-term care facilities, as well as financial planning and forecasting. Dawn’s ability to interpret and apply Federal regulations allowed her to utilize her auditing skills to oversee and perform audits of HUD assisted entities and not-for-profit and governmental agencies which helped her clients to maintain and achieve compliance.
Dawn held previous positions as a Manager for the national accounting and consulting firm KPMG LLP where she provided reimbursement consulting services to hospitals, and as a Reimbursement Manager for Manor Care, the national long-term care chain.
She never stopped learning and growing as a healthcare professional, and obtained her Certified Professional Coder Designation in 2004. She was a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) for which she presented on many occasions on Medicare payment policies, as well as the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
Dawn had many interests, some of which included her love of travel, music and her precious feline babies. Dawn's life was shorter than we would have chosen it to be, but the impact of her life on those who worked with her and loved her will last forever.
