Yvonne was born in Long Branch, West Virginia and was the second oldest of three brothers and two sisters. Her parents were Howard L. Smith, Sr. (deceased) and Bertha Cole Smith (deceased).
She loved the Lord and preached for several years.
She served by often hosting family get-togethers, bible studies and witnessing to everyone she came in contact with of God’s goodness and mercy. She had a keen ability to discern a situation and reference scripture.
Yvonne enjoyed cooking and was known for her fried chicken and fish. She loved entertaining, playing the drums, singing and even briefly modeled.
She served as a Teacher’s Aid in both West Virginia and Maryland school systems. She also moved to Maryland in 1968, obtained a degree at the University of Maryland and worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for over 40 years.
She has two brothers that preceded her in death, Howard Smith, Jr. and David L. Smith. She is survived by her sisters, Drema S. Rohan (Steve) and CaSandra Smith-Joyner (Michael) and one brother, Ralph Smith (Geneva) and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
