Thelma Wanda Shrewsbury

Born January 23, 1924 in Bud WV. She was the daughter of the late Effie and Oscar Walker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Hallie G. Shrewsbury Jr., daughter, Nancy Childers, brothers; Elvin and Clay Walker and sister, Patsy Dillon.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Hogan of Daniels, sister Ann Southern of Beckley, and brother, James Walker of Ittman; several nieces and nephews, and her extended family from Gail and Kenneth Bradley, and their sons Charles, Timothy and Scott, all from the northern Virginia area.

“Wanda”, as she was affectionately called by friends and family, was a homemaker and devoted wife, who served by her husband’s side in his Ministry in Raleigh and Summers Counties for over 30 years. She was a member of the Ghent Missionary Baptist Church. She will always be remembered for that beautiful smile and her soft and gentle and quiet ways. Wanda was always an avid caregiver and supporter of the many little animals that were a part of her life for many years.

Funeral services will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Dr., Beckley, WV at 1 pm on Monday, July 3, 2017 with Rev, Mickey Mitchell Officiating. Friends may visit from 12 noon until the time of the service. Private burial will immediately follow the service.
