She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years, Rick; daughter Lea and husband Paul Skurpski of Fairfax, VA; son Brian and wife Kara Mitchell of Pineville WV; grandson Garrett Mitchell of Pineville, WV; and sister Sue Osborne-Bailey of Beckley, WV; sister-in law Jean Hoge of Beckley, WV; sister-in law Linda and husband Bill Branham of Mullens, WV; and brother-in law Mickey and wife Tammy Mitchell of Mullens. She will also be dearly missed by her nieces, nephews, and friends.
Terri was born in Mullens, WV in 1948 to her predeceased parents Damon and Betty Cook formally of Mullens, WV. She grew up in the small town of Mullens where she lived with her parents and grandparents, Kyle and Nell Cook. She met her husband during high school. They later married where they moved to Pineville, WV, to start their family and raise their children.
Her focus was caring for her husband, children, grandson, and everyone around her. Some of the fondest memories were family gatherings, vacations, and sporting events of her children and grandson. Terri always had a way of making everyone feel loved and special about themselves. This extended to her professional career of over four decades where she worked bringing smiles to everyone she touched as a cosmetologist and dental assistant. We cannot forget her love for the family pets as well as any other critter that showed up on her porch.
A private service will be held at the family’s request.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in the name of Terri Mitchell to the Raleigh County Humane Society or Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the Pineville Fire Department and all the medical professionals who were there and cared for her with compassion.
