Ms. Suda Ellen Farley

Suda Ellen Farley ,91, of Ghent, passed away at her home with family on Saturday, July 12, 2014. Born March 23, 1923, she was the daughter of the late James Winfred Farley and Betsy Jane Lilly. Suda had a love for gardening, working hard all of her life, caring for her brother and sisters, and enjoyed spending as much time as she could with her family. Suda helped raise her grandchildren so her daughter could attend college and start her career. Suda was a member of Ghent Missionary Baptist Church, but due to her health, she was unable to attend for several years. She shared many memories of walking to church as a young girl with her mother and many friends who have already passed away. Suda made her home with her daughter Reva and son-in-law Clay. Suda was preceded in death by brothers Gilmer, Kellis, Herbert, and Junior as well as her sister Thelma. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Reva Bowman and husband Clay Osborne, grandchildren Christina “Crissy” Wilburn and husband Artie of Ghent; Ralph Carr Jr. and wife Lori of Ghent; Scott Bowman and Anita of Shady Spring; 8 great-grandsons, Nathan Wilburn of Cool Ridge; Jacob Carr, Matthew Carr, and Andrew Carr of Hinton; Matthew and David Britt of Ghent; Preston Bowman and Dylan of Shady Springs; 1 great-granddaughter, Bethany Wilburn of Ghent, and a great-great-grandson, Greyson, who brought laughter and smiles to her in the past couple of weeks. Also left to cherish her memory is her sister Deane Lilly of Daniels, and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Roanna, Hospice of Southern West Virginia, and her nurses, Erica, Nikki, and Lori. Friends may gather Tuesday July 15, from 6-8 PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley. Services will be help on Wednesday July 16 at 2:00 PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Russell Ellison will be officiating with a eulogy by Lilly Warren. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
