Peggy Lester

Angel was preceded in death by the following family members: both of her parents, her brothers Jackie Bowens, Aaron Bowens, and William Bowens, her Sister Pamela Bowens, her beloved Father-In-Law, Charlie Lester, Mother-In-Law Grethel Lester, and her Brother-In-Law William Lester.

The following people are left with cherished memories of Angel: Her loving Husband of 45 years, Kenneth Lester, Son Ken Lester II and wife Jessica Lester of Rhodell, Daughter Tanya McKinney and Husband Jason of Stephenson, 2 Grandsons Charlie McKinney and Trevor Lester, 5 Granddaughters Krista Harvey and husband Ethan Harvey, Taylor McKinney, Evelyn McKinney, Gabriella McKinney, and Isabella McKinney, one Great-Grandchild, Michael Harvey, a Sister Rosetta Mills of Mississippi, a Brother Gary Bowens of Tennessee, her Brother-In-Law Charles Lester and his wife Judy Lester of South Carolina, Sister-In-Law Susie Trail and husband Shelton of Pipestem, a special Sister-In-Law, Julia Bowens of Helen, and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her family, and Special friends, Russell Patrick and Wife Sharon of Morgantown, Reverend Danny Lusk and wife Linda of Basin, Laura Williams of Helen, Twila and Jerry Whitt of Helen, and Carol Williams of Shady Spring. Angel considered so many others her family and was always there for each and every one of them.

Angel was a homemaker and caretaker of her family. Angel dedicated her life to making a difference in the everyday lives of her family members and friends. She cared for each member of her family selflessly. Angel had two children of her own, but she considered every child in her presence to be one of her children. She would do anything for her children, her biological children as well as the children who wandered into her life. She cared for the minor scrapes and bruises we all received growing up in our daily rough and tumble play, and she was there to help us through hard times as we grew older and needed someone to talk to or a shoulder to lean on.

Angel lived a life full of purpose and compassion. As the poet Ralph Waldo Emmerson once wrote, “The purpose of life is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” This was the life Angel lived. She made a difference in this world. Angel touched the lives of many people, and she helped many people in a variety of ways. Her departure from this world into Heaven has left a hole in the hearts of the many people who loved her.

Graveside service will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens on June 3rd, 2022 at 11 A.M.
