Patty Sue Sellards

Patty Sue Sellards, age 77, of Beckley, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021 at Bowers Hospice House. Born on September 23, 1943, she was the daughter of 15 children to the late Lowery Athey and Icie Daniels Athey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 43 years, James Sellards; her grandson, Sean Farley; and her siblings, Nellie, Nettie, Shirley, Betty, Junior, Bill, Jimmy, Freddy, Buster and Herman.

Patty was a member of Grace Chapel Church. She had an enormous love for her church where she sang and played the guitar, even writing her own music. In her early years, she enjoyed yard work and being outside. Patty was a hard worker and a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Monica Sellards, Patricia Sellards and James Sellards, II and his wife, Angela; grandchildren, Adrianne Farley, Joshua Farley, Dominique Shannon, Maya Shannon, James Glen Sellards and Aric Sellards; great-grandchildren, Autumn, and Nevaeh Dunn, Serenity Bennett and Sean Farley, II; her siblings, Jesse, Delores “Frog”, Lucille, and Sylvia; and many nieces and nephews.

At the request of the family a closed casket walk through visitation will be held between

12:00 pm and 1:00 pm, Monday, February 8, 2021 at Grace Chapel Church. A private funeral service will be held at the church with Pastor Randy Mann officiating. Burial will be held in the Prayer Garden of Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

In accordance with the current CDC guidelines, the family and the staff of Blue Ridge Funeral Home ask that those who attend the services wear proper facial coverings and practice social distancing at all times.
