Oakley Cameron Blevins

He was the fifth child of 11 children.

Oakley was a WWII veteran, 1st ID, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in the European Theatre. He loved to travel and was willing to share in a good joke. He enjoyed puzzles, brain teasers, and was “dead dog serious” about his card games. He had a taste for exotic foods and an appetite for electronics.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Fredrich and his second wife, Peggy Jane Agee Blevins, his parents A Hart and Frances Rebecca Farmer Blevins, six brothers Earl, Ana, Paris, Lolen, Eddie, and Blane, two sisters Beulah Blevins and Goldie Marie Blevins Mills.

He is survived by his five children Jerry Meadows (Gloria) and Willard Blevins (Nancy), Denise Blevins Stracener (Earl), Rebecca Blevins McMartin (Kent) and Karen Blevins; brother, George Shelby Blevins; sister, Doris Eula Blevins Mills; nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

We would like to send a thank you to Dr. Blume and staff along with the entire staff at Hospice of Southern West Virginia/ Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, West Virginia.

We love you Dad, brother, uncle and cousin. You will be sadly missed.

Friends may gather with the family for a celebration of Oakley’s life at Blue Ridge Funeral Home on November 7, 2015 from 11am-12pm. Services will be held November 7, 2015 at 12pm with Pastor Keith Mills and Pastor Joe Blevins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia.
