Kimberly “Kim” Ann Houchins went home to be with the Lord and her family on July 9th, 2023. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School, she delved into a much loved career as a preschool teacher. She taught at St. Stephens Episcopal Day School for 17 years. Kim married the love of her life, William Ashley Houchins, and spent 30 happy years of marriage together.
Kim loved spending time couponing with her family and reading books. She spent many happy hours bonding with her girls while playing Animal Crossing together. Kim loved listening to Taylor Swift and Luke Bryan in her free time. She earned her “medical degree” through her knowledge gained while watching the many seasons of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and 911.
She will be reunited with her mother Vickie Marie Rawlings, her grandmother Gloria Machumis, Uncle Joe Cadle, and other loved ones.
Kim leaves behind her husband William “Ashley” Houchins; her two daughters Megan (Clayton) Stewart of Clarksville, Tennessee and Allison (Seth) Houchins of Shady Spring, West Virginia; Father Harry (Judy) Rawlings; Sister Sherri (William) Bett of Grove City, Pennsylvania and her daughters Carly Bett and Realyn “Rea” Bett; and countless family, friends, and loved ones that she will miss spending time with.
Her family is following her wishes for cremation and her services will be scheduled for a later date.
A memorial luncheon will be held at Grandview State Park Shelter 1 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, July 16th.
