be with her Lord on January 7th 2017. She was born April 17th, 1925 in Lillybrook, Raleigh
County, WV to parents Carl and Lola Adkins, the oldest daughter of nine children. She grew up
in Lillybrook and graduated from Collins High School. Juanita was a true ‘’Coal Miner’s
Daughter”, and was immensely proud of her heritage. She married her loving husband, Ernest
A. Long, Sr. in 1949. During their 67 years of marriage they lived all over the country, finally
settling in her parents former home in Princewick, WV after retirement. Juanita and Ernest had
five children, all of whom would visit as often as possible, and always considered wherever mom
lived to be ‘’home’’.
Juanita is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Lola Adkins, siblings Emory, Athol, Oleta,
Olen, Orlan, Carl, Ronnie, and Bonnie,daughter Carla Long Hernandez, and nephew Chuck
Bell. She is survived by her husband of 67 years Ernest A. Long, Sr, her children Lola Miles
(Jim), Ernest A Long, Jr, (Linda) Randall Long (Lynne) and Jim Long (Staci), a special nephew
Tommy Atkins, grandchildren Jamie Miles, Jennette Miles Martin, Melissa Sing Wagner,
Christopher Long, Ryan Bragg, Todd Bragg, and Cindy Long, great-grandchildren Kasey Martin,
Austen Fearneyhough, Emilie Sing, Ethan Coleman, Grant Bragg, Kaitlyn Davis, Addyson and
Christian Bragg, great-great-granddaughter Amelia Fearneyhough, and numerous other beloved
nieces and nephews.
Juanita loved the Lord, and spent time each day reading His word. Her faith and desire to be
close to the Lord was an inspiration to all who knew her. Juanita touched the hearts of
everyone she met with her kindness, compassion, acceptance, grace and her ability to love
everyone with her whole heart. She will be dearly missed.
There will be a private ceremony at a later date. The family wishes to acknowledge the
incredible nurses and staff at Bower House Hospice Center, and asks that in lieu of flowers,
donations be made in Juanita’s name to Bower House Hospice Center in Beckley, WV.
