Jonathan Richard Thomas, 19, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, July 30, 2015. Jonathan was born on March 19, 1996 in Beckley to his loving parents, Richard Wayne and Joanna Lynn Thomas. He was a happy and caring Christian man who loved and took care of everyone he knew. As a child, he liked to ride his bike, play football, and spend time with his family. As Jonathan grew older, he loved to race his go kart and spent every Saturday with his dad, uncle, and girlfriend at the track. He loved to go out riding with his friends and especially enjoyed spending time with his girlfriend of three years, Rebekah. Jonathan was a 2014 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School where he especially enjoyed his classes and visits with his favorite teacher, Mr. Gauldin. Jonathan worked as a welder and loved to spend his free time riding his side-by-side. Family was of the greatest importance to Jonathan and he took great pleasure in family dinners and spending time with his parents and brother. He was a great and true friend to those that knew him best, and loved spending time fishing with his friend, Tanner and taking Rebekah to the movies. Jonathan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Richard and Elizabeth Thomas; maternal grandparents, Maw-Maw Rosie and Paw-Paw John McDaniel; and great-grandmother, Lillie Richmond. Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Richard Wayne and Joanna Lynn McDaniel Thomas; brothers, Jeremy and Brian Thomas; loving girlfriend, Rebekah Garcia; special uncle, Rick Thomas; and a large, extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Funeral services for Jonathan will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 2:00pm with Pastor Lyell Zickafoose officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday prior to the service from 11:00am – 2:00pm. Interment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens will immediately follow the funeral services with Jeremy, Joe, Brad, Shane, Tanner, Hunter, Austin, Jordan, and J.D. serving as pallbearers and Dallas, Kyle, Chris, Lucas, Ian, Kyle, Alex, Brandon, and Jeff serving as honorary pallbearers.
