Jerry was a founding member of the Shade Tree Car Club, the oldest member of the Mt. Hope Lions Club, member of the Moose Lodge in Oak Hill, and the Masonic Lodge in Mount Hope. He also coached in Mount Hopes youth football program, was in a band called Country Tradition that played all over, and owned his own business. Jerry liked to stay busy and involved in his community.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte Ellison; his brothers; Lloyd, Leroy, David, Junior, Mack Ellison, and Eugene Woolwine; and his sisters; Euline Edmonds and Jenny Coleman.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons; Mike and Lowanna Ellison, David and Pam Ellison, and Doug Ellison, step-sons Bobby Lilly and Rusty Lilly, step-daughters Ruth and Dave Caldwell and Crystal Massey, brother George Ellison, sisters Ruby Riley and Barbara Davis, 10 grandkids, and 3 great-grandkids.
His services will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 1 PM with Pastor Roger Pauley officiating. The family will receive visitors from 11 AM until the time of the service. Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, is honored to be serving the Ellison family.
