Gerald Lee Cook Sr.

Gerald “Jerry” Lee Cook, Sr. 65, of Beckley, passed away, Friday, February 5, 2016. Born January 9, 1951 in Mullens, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Waitman Barbe and Georgetta Cook. Jerry was a 1969 graduate of Pineville High School, Pineville, WV. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army, where he served his country. While stationed in South Korea he met the love of his life, his wife, who recently celebrated 45 years of marriage. After his enlistment, he returned back home to southern WV, where he was a lifelong resident. He worked as a Federal Mine Inspector and was a long standing member of the Federal Mine Rescue Team. Jerry was also a long time member of the Grace Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death are two brothers, Robert “Bobby” Waitman Cook and Dennis “Denny” Lane Cook. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sam Ye “InSuk” Cook; a son, Gerald “Jerry” Lee Cook, Jr. of UAE, Dubai; a daughter, Lisa Ann Cook and fiancé Shawn Long of Herndon, VA; a brother, Charles Edward “Eddie” and wife Alice Jean Cook of Pineville, WV; a sister, Barbara Ann Cook of Kannapolis, NC; several nieces and nephews; and many students and kids from South Korea that Jerry and his wife were very proud host parents of that Jerry considered as his extended family. Friends may gather with the family at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Monday, February 8, 2016 from 12-2pm. Services will be at the funeral home, Monday, February 8, 2016 at 2pm with Pastor Roger Harding officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with family and friends to serve as pallbearers. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.blueridgefuneralhome.com.
