Donald Gene Bailey, age 81, of Bolt, West Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 9, 2024. Born at Amherstdale, Logan County, he was the son of the late Wade Bailey and Georgia Workman Bailey.
Donald was an avid hunter and also loved wood working and taking care of his farm. He retired from the coal mines after a career of 38 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Carol "Sue" Smith Bailey, a grandson, Matthew Scott Bailey, and by a brother Harry Bailey, and a sister Beulah Foxx.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons Donald Bailey Jr. and wife Renee of Statesville, NC, Michael Bailey and wife Mecca of Daniels, grandson Nicholas Bailey and wife Jordan of North Carolina, granddaughter Alyssa Williams of Bolt, grandson Abel Bailey of Daniels and two sisters, Peggy McCoy and husband Kenny and Alice Kay Whitt and husband George.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home chapel at 1:00 pm with Kenny McCoy officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 12:00 pm until service time at the funeral home.
