Clinton Burke Treadway

He was born in Artie, West Virginia, to Frazier and Georgia Treadway. He attended Clear Fork High School in West Virginia, where he met and in 1958 married Vera Thompson.

Clint earned his B.S. in physical education in 1958 and his M. Ed. in 1964 at New Mexico Highlands University, Las Vegas, New Mexico. After college, he taught history at Marsh Fork High School, West Virginia, and in 1963, Clint and Vera moved their young family to Rochester, New York, where he taught physical education at Gates-Chili Junior and Senior High Schools.

Clint played basketball and football in high school and football in college, and he enjoyed coaching young athletes. He coached varsity football at Marsh Fork High School, and was assistant varsity football coach and assistant junior varsity basketball coach at Gates-Chili High School from 1963-1967. In 1970 Clint was named head varsity football coach for Gates-Chili High School. He held that position until 1983, during which time he won many awards, including Monroe County, All Greater Rochester, McDonalds, RT French and the Democrat and Chronicle Coach of the Year Awards.

Clint loved golfing, playing guitar, writing poems and songs, cruises, WVU football, Red Sox baseball, Zane Grey novels, cowboy movies, American history, his black lab and a good laugh. In 2018, at the age of 82, he shot a hole-in-one on the fourth hole of Arrowhead Golf Course in Spencerport, New York.

Clint also loved his family. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vera Thompson Treadway, and his beloved daughter, Denise Vorbach (Ed). Clint is survived by his sons, Dwayne Treadway and Darren Treadway, his daughter, Kristi Treadway (Jim Kayser), his sisters, Peggy Londeree (Bill) and Joetta Almeida (Bob), his brother, Greg Treadway, and his grandchildren, Morgan Kayser (Juan Almanzar), Kyle Vorbach, Dylan Treadway and Maya Treadway, as well as many nieces and nephews, all of who love him dearly.

There will be a funeral service to celebrate the life of Clint will be held on Sunday, September 29th, 2024 at 2PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior.

Clint will then be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens following the service.
