Carl Cecil Walton

Carl Cecil Walton, age 88 of Oak Hill, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, WV on May 6, 2023. He resided with his daughter Brenda, and son-in-law Jerry, in Hurricane, WV since January 2022. Born August 7, 1934 in Kilsyth, WV, he was the son of the late Hobert Walton and Lisa Anna Thomas Lay Walton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Hildred Letha Bennett Walton, daughter Joan Leatrice Bennett Overton, 11 older siblings: Perry Lay, Henry Lay, J.S. Walton, Billy Joe Walton, Gertrude Underwood, Lillian Oren, Eliene Tucker, Eunice Warren, Nadine Bailey, Bessie Spurlock, and Opal Kincaid. Those left to cherish his memory include daughter, Brenda Carol Bennett Brown and husband Jerry of Hurricane; four grandchildren, Robin Peters and husband Tony of Freeport, IL, Ryan Suzanne Brown of St. Petersburg, FL, Lea Ann Overton of Toms Brook, VA, and J. Michael Overton of Parkersburg, WV; three great-grandchildren, Ty Lewis of Auburn, AL, Christopher Overton of Boston, MA and Ethan Coleman of Toms Brook, VA. He was a proud veteran of the US Army, having served two years in Germany. Friends may gather with the family Friday, May 12, 2023 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, in Beckley, WV. Services will follow at 4:00 PM with Rev. Larry Kitts officiating.
