He was a retired coal miner and veteran. He attended Carlisle First Church of God. He loved spending time with his family.
He was born October 17, 1930 to the late King Sheridan Pettry Sr and Lessie Mae Cook Pettry. He will be reunited with his parents, two sisters, Donna Mae Pettry-Kyle and Mary Angeline Pettry Wills, two brothers, Joseph Scott Pettry and King Sheridan Pettry Jr, a son in law Steve Clay, and great granddaughter Ashlyn Hylton.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 65 years, Betty Allen Pettry, son William R. Pettry and wife Deborah N. Pettry of Beckley, daughter, Anita Kay Clay of Bradley, sister, Anna Lou Pettry Shoup and her husband Dean Shoup of Bloomville, Ohio, granddaughter, Rebecca Clay Hylton and husband Cody Hylton of Mississippi, 2 great-grandchildren, Mason and Madeline Hylton of Mississippi, a special dog, Shadow Pettry and several nieces and nephews.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on April, 14th, 2023 from 6PM - 9PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley. His services will follow on Saturday at 1 PM with Dean Shoup and Richard Allen officiating at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Gary Pack, Larry Hudson, Rick Daniel, Clarence Thompson, Cody Hylton, and Dallas Settle. In lieu of flowers the family would like all donations made to Bowers Hospice House in his name.
