Tom was born on November 16, 1951, in Memphis, Tennessee to Mary and Thomas Barton III.
His family later moved to Nederland, Texas where Tom became a lifelong resident. He attended Nederland High School and was a member of the class of '69. Tom cherished the memories he made on the pitcher's mound, football field, and the lifelong friendships of David Martin, Mike Tarver, and Judy Reed.
Tom attended Tyler Junior College on a football scholarship. After returning home, he met his wife, Katherine Anzell. They were married at St. Pius Catholic Church in Beaumont, Texas on April 7, 1978, and raised two children.
He worked for over 30 years selling advertising for the Vernon Company before becoming self-employed.
Tom was a storyteller and musician. Tom's favorite pastimes were playing a round of golf with his buddies, and spending time with family and friends at Crystal Beach. He was one of the founding members of the exclusive Uncle Billy and the Fat Boys with Rick Short, Dick Jordan, Billy Walsh, and Gene Richie.
He was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Mary Barton, sister Betty Gambrell, and brother Steve Barton.
Survivors include his loving wife, Katherine Barton of Nederland; son, Thomas Barton and his wife Barbara of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter, Angela Martindale and her husband Andrew of Nederland; grandchildren, Oliver Barton, Lily Barton, Wyatt Barton, Quintin Martindale, and Layne Martindale.
A Visitation will be at 5:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 6:00 PM, on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703.
